Learn to Love Yourself. 4 self-love tips!

For the ones who ever doubted their worth, this post is for you. Today I’m sharing 4 tips to accept and love yourself more! We often spend so much of our time berating ourselves. We wonder how we could have done things differently in the past so we could be more successful today.. or comparing ourselves to other people, especially ones who are our age, and wondering why we haven’t achieved what they have yet.

Always remember that you are enough! Smart enough, talented enough, fit enough. You are a powerful being with a lot to offer.

1. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

  • No one is you and that is your power
  • You are unique and equally as important and valued as anyone else
  • Being anyone other than yourself is a loss for the world

2. Speak Kindly to Yourself

  • See yourself as your mother, best friend, or an innocent child. How would you speak to them if they were having a bad day?
  • Try referring to yourself as a term of endearment like “babe” or “dear”. Yes, it may sound creepy talking to yourself like that.. but only if you say it aloud 😉

3. Post-it Notes of Affirmations

  • Think about an inspiring quote, your favorite trait, or any words that may resonate with you.
  • Write them on a post-it note and stick it where you can see it as a daily reminder

4. Let it go

  • Ask yourself, “How is this thought helping me towards my goal? How does this thought serve me in a positive way?”
  • Let go of these self-doubting fears. Make room for self-love instead.

  1. Weekend getaway to a town far, far away from the city
  2. When the sun kisses your skin for the first time all year
  3. Laughing so hard you’re scared you may die because you can’t breathe
  4. Our ability to memorize
  5. Not taking yourself seriously on the mat. Breathe, have fun, try something new.
  6. When you suddenly become friends with everyone at the bar after a couple drinks
  7. The restorative sound of rain

The past (almost) 5 months of 2016 have been far more wonderful than all of 2015 was. So many great moments and feelings experienced for which I am eternally grateful for. Hoping all of you are giving and receiving good vibes, too 🙂

  1. Graduating college in 5 weeks!

  3. Earphones that survive the washer AND dryer (oops)
  4. Waking up mentally & physically healthy
  5. Taking my 2.5 yr old niece to her first movie theater experience
  6. Improving our interpersonal skills
  7. My mom telling me about her day at work

To be honest, it was hard to come up with a list today. This past week has been somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster for me, but for no good reason. Too much overthinking and lack of mindfulness. Truly a waste of energy and time, but working hard to make today better 🙂

  2. Watching military homecoming videos on YouTube and sobbing
  3. The Secret Language of Birthdays
  4. Conan O’Brien’s quick wit, intelligence, and comedic talent
  5. Elderly couples who hold hands and walk together reaalllyy slowly
  6. Bundling up and enjoying dinner outdoors on a cool March night
  7. Pig dancing to Work

  7. Looking back on old photos of happy times

Feeling pretty nostalgic lately of all happy times. But I need to remind myself that today is also a happy time – stay in the present and don’t take it for granted. Every day is a good day if we and our loved ones go to bed safe and healthy.
